Klein Curaçao is what you imagine when someone asks you what would you bring to a deserted island. This little island is almost 2h away from Curaçao, when I say little I really mean it, the island has less than 2 km2 and it's pretty much deserted: it has an abandoned lighthouse, some shacks that belong to the boat companies that offer the day tours and lots and lots of lizzards.
There are a few companies that do the day tours, after some research we decided to go for the Mermaid Boat Trips. I was quite scared of being seasick because it was my first time on open ocean so we decided that the Mermaid boats were the best for that and they also offer drinks and lunch and their schack has everything (toilets, tables, barbecue, beach beds and some nice shadows).
As I said before Klein Curaçao is really small but you won't get bored, after you get pass the fact that you haven't seen such white sand and such clear turquoise waters in your life, you can explore the abandoned lighthouse on the other side of the island or you can go back in the water and snorkel for hours and even see some turtles!
Useful tip: since the sand is so white and there's not that much shadow, put a lot of sunscreen otherwise prepare yourself for some really bad burns and when you think you putted enough sunscreen, put more! (I got burned on my chest and lower back).
The lunch offered by the boat company was good, there were a lot of options, so there's no need of bringing your own food or drinks, they got you covered!
After lunch we went back in the water and I got a chance of swimming with a sea turtle. What an experience! Turtles weren't the only sea animals we saw, we saw a lot of different fishes and on our way to the island we even got to see some flying fish and guess what...Dolphins!! Wild dolphins just swimming and jumping side to side to the boat... Got me excited as a kid.
Unfortunately all good things come to an end and we had to set sail and leave this beautiful paradise. We got back in time for the sunset.
Good to know: if you know or you are afraid of getting seasick, just stay on the lower deck and keep looking foward. On our way there the waves were bigger and the boat bounced a little bit more but nothing to worry.
